Frequently asked questions

Sectional gutters are pre-cut pieces joined with seams along each run, and those seams are the most common spot for leaks and clogs. Seamless gutters are formed in one continuous length on-site to fit your roofline exactly, so the only joints are at corners and downspouts. For our wet-then-frozen climate, fewer seams means fewer failure points.

Properly pitched gutters with adequate downspout capacity move snowmelt off the roof faster, which reduces standing water that can refreeze. But ice dams are really a ventilation and roof-temperature issue, which is why we also restore soffit intake airflow. Solving ice dams usually takes the gutters, soffit, and roof working together — exactly the system we install as one.

Only if it's compromised. Gutters hang directly on the fascia board, so if it's soft, rotted, or pulling away, new gutters won't stay secure under snow load. During the free assessment we check the fascia condition and replace or cap only what needs it before hanging anything new.

Soffit is the underside of your eaves, and vented soffit panels are a primary intake point for attic ventilation. Good airflow keeps the roof deck cold in winter, which helps prevent ice dams, and helps the attic shed heat and moisture year-round. Blocked or damaged soffit can quietly shorten the life of your shingles.

Yes. With every full roof replacement, DG Contracting includes 150 feet of free seamless gutters and downspouts. A new roof and a fresh drainage system installed together perform far better than either one alone.
